Psychosis recounts Uris personal story an IDF officer, a combat company commander in Judah and Samaria, salt of the earth who suffered a psychotic disorder during his annual reserve service. The episode tore his world apart, forcing Uri to face a world with no values, no order, and nothing to hold on to. Simultaneously, Uris faith in all that had been virtuous in his life since childhood
is now undermined: intimacy and romance, love for mankind, commitment, and connection to homeland. The reliable old structures both internal and external fall apart one by one. Consequently, Uri is forced to face the new rules dictated by his contemporary situation. He must confront his doctors and his new reality one that is worlds apart from his reality prior to the critical reserve
